SourceLink

Overview

SourceLink is source control and real-time QC software designed to maximize production on large seismic projects using continuous recording systems. It synchronizes seismic sources with the recording system clock using GPS time, helping eliminate sample skew and keeping all source activity aligned with project timing.

SourceLink provides simultaneous control and quality control for multiple source types, including vibrator groups, dynamite groups, AWD groups, and air gun boats. Its graphical map interface gives operators clear control of source activity, group position, shot selection, and real-time source status.

Features

  • Designed for continuous recording systems including iSeis Sigma, OYO GSR, Fairfield Node, Sercel Unite, and other systems
  • GPS time synchronization with the recording system clock
  • Simultaneous control and QC of multiple source groups
  • Supports vibrator, dynamite, AWD, and air gun source operations
  • Graphical map interface for complete source control
  • Automatically finds group center of gravity, or COG
  • Selects the near flag and fires the shot
  • Displays real-time group status, including distance to flag, sweep/ready status, VP number, and error conditions
  • Supports Slip Sweep, HFVS, ZenSeis, ISS, DSSS, and combined simultaneous source methods
  • Real-time graphical QC of source performance
  • Displays correlation phase, correlation force, distortion, and vibrator error limits
  • Line graphs show vibrator performance for the last 100 sweeps
  • Post Sweep Service status can be displayed graphically on the map
  • Statistical analysis summarizes vibrator performance, error counts, percentages, and vibrator comparison data

Benefits

  • Maximizes production on large seismic crews using continuous recording
  • Improves timing accuracy by synchronizing source activity with GPS time
  • Reduces operator workload with automated group COG, flag selection, and shot firing
  • Provides real-time visibility of source readiness, distance, sweep status, and errors
  • Helps identify out-of-specification shots and missing shots quickly
  • Makes vibrator performance problems easier to detect in the field
  • Allows easier comparison of vibrator performance across the project
  • Supports advanced simultaneous shooting methods for higher field productivity

Related Applications

SourceLink is commonly used on large seismic operations where multiple source groups, continuous recording, GPS timing, and real-time field QC are required.
