Accelerated Weight Drop Systems

About Big Bang Weight Drops

The Big Bang series offers a range of accelerated weight drop seismic sources designed for near-surface seismic surveys, MASW testing, engineering seismic investigations, and field production applications.

Each model is designed for different field requirements and energy levels, from portable shallow investigations to high-energy systems for deeper penetration and stronger signal amplitudes.

Big Bang Models Explained

Big Bang weight drop sources are available in multiple sizes and configurations. Lower-energy systems are suited for shallow and portable applications, while larger models provide stronger seismic energy for demanding field conditions.

  • Big Bang 50: Entry-level system for shallow surveys and light-duty applications. Impact Hammer Weight: 50 lbs
  • Big Bang 100: Mid-range system for standard near-surface surveys with good energy output. Impact Hammer Weight: 100 lbs
  • Big Bang 750: Heavy-duty system providing high-energy impacts for deeper penetration. Impact Hammer Weight: 750 lbs
  • Big Bang 750 3-Point: Enhanced 750 model with improved stability and three-point support. Impact Hammer Weight: 750 lbs
  • Big Bang 2000: Premium high-energy system for large-scale surveys requiring maximum penetration. Impact Hammer Weight: 2000 lbs

Applications

Big Bang weight drops are used for:

  • MASW testing
  • Shallow seismic refraction surveys
  • Engineering seismic studies
  • Site characterization
  • Foundation investigation
